Legends of Chima, Lion Legend Beast

The legend beast sets in general tend to have plenty of useful parts for the price, and as such are popular with MOCers. Those looking for tan parts will probably be most interested in the Lion.

The box looks pretty neat with the lion in a dynamic pose and highlights the new ball joint piece on the side of the box.

On the back it shows all four legend beasts.

The thumb tab allows the box to be opened easily and inside there are two bags of parts, a sticker sheet, and the instruction manual. On opening the bags there's a decent pile of parts, the lion mask comes in its own small plastic bag. When you group all the parts together it's easy to see that the piece selection is excellent for a $10 set. Some of the more interesting parts are: 9 sets of the new ball joints; a good variety of curved slopes in tan, dark brown, and bley; new teeth/claw pieces in white, and the half arches in tan. The only minifigure is Laval, a lion warrior. His torso has printing on both sides. Onto the build itself: the first few steps are quite straightforward. The legs are built in pairs and use the curved slopes and half arches to make a nice organic look. Some neat SNOT techniques are utilized in the head and the lion's jaw is hinged for added playability. The complete lion, ready for action with Laval riding. The lion is very pose-able which makes it pretty fun to mess around with. For an example, here it gives a high five to its wolf friend: Overall, a very good parts pack and the set itself is pretty fun.
