Our guest this month is Ben Cossy, who shares a useful design for cobblestone that can also be used for castle walls!
“Today I will discuss a Cobblestone technique featured in a collaborative build between myself and my friend Eli Brinsmead.
The technique was used in two ways. One was using it as a Cobblestone flooring technique and the other is using it to create a brick wall effect on the outside of a castle. Both techniques essentially use the same design pictured below
Simply attach a series of 1×1 clip plates onto a bar or flex tube and then find some way of attaching them to the studs below . Using it as Cobblestone is simply done as pictured in the images below. An alternative design style could be this.
Alternating between the vertical and horizontal 1×1 clip plates allows for patterns to be created. In my opinion playing around and alternating between the two is a lot more fun!
Of course any variations of the 1×1 clip plates can be used, as can any size of flex tubing. Finding ways to attach it to a wall design can simply be achieved though SNOT techniques. Below are some examples of the technique used in our MOC Hornreach Keep.
An easy way to transition between landscape and the Cobblestone effect is to surround it with Dirt, represented by brown plates. This is seen by both of us in our Collab.
Hopefully this technique is helpful to you in the future! Enjoy using it however you wish. If you’re interested in more techniques and tutorials, head on over to my Youtube Channel which features a few videos that will be sure to get the creative juices flowing.”
Thanks for sharing that super useful technique, Ben.
