This technique was borrowed from Jonas Kramm. It uses a variety of round plates and tiles to give an irregular cobblestone base.
Start by laying out your base with wedge plate, round plates, and Plate, Modified 3 x 2 with Hole around the outer edges.
Regular plates can be used on the inner portion of the base.
Here’s a closer look at one section of the base and the how each element is attached.
Next you can start layering 2×2 round tiles, 1×1 round plates, and 1×1 round tiles around the outer edges.
Generally it looks best using two colors – bley and dark bley here though tan and dark tan are also be a good option.
Try to overlap 2×2 tiles on the top layer over ones below.
And if you would like to have some grass stalks in the street just leave a few studs exposed.
