This post covers the third build in my series on Apple Cider production for last year’s CCC.
I started off by experiment with the shed wall design. SNOT tiles and log bricks gave an interesting texture to the walls.
While the front side had just a few posts rather than a solid wall. John designed the apple press for me, based off of pictures of medieval cider presses.
With the wall and posts in place, I realized I didn’t like the look of tan log bricks in the wall.
So I switched to dark brown for the secondary color. Stairs were necessary to allow a mini figure to reach the top of the cider press, and a large pot was added underneath to hold the freshly pressed cider.
I originally planned to have a barn roof, as is shown here. But ultimately couldn’t get a clean design that I liked. And it also made the building look a bit top heavy.
So I went with a standard shed roof style.
Then tiled the roof with medium dark flesh and dark tan. At first I planned to have the entire barn yard dirt, but later added some spots of grass to give more color.
Then after adding plenty of minifigures at work the scene was finished.
I hope you enjoyed that look into this model’s design process, and stay tuned for more build logs and tutorials!
Hey, just wanted to leave a comment here as I am loving this moc!
Thanks Marcus!
I am building a Lego water powered Cidermill is it possible you could share the Apple press design with me.
Certainly, you can see a tutorial on the cider press here.
