This technique was designed to work with my Bar and Clip Brickwork.
1×1 brick with stud are used to attach 1×1 bricks and cheese slopes for the stonework on either side of the doorway. This gives a very similar texture to the bar and clip brickwork.
More 1×1 bricks are added on top of the brick modified with stud.
And then some 1×2 tiles lock the 1×1 stacks into the wall behind them.
A 1x6x2 arch is held in place via some 1×3 plates extending back into the wall.
Centered over the arch is a 1×2 technic brick.
Assemblies of 1×2 plates, headlight bricks, 1×1 plates, and cheese are attached to the bottom of the arch.
To finish off the stone arch I used a technic half pin to attach a shield where the capstone would go.
If you prefer to keep a solid stone look just use a plain bley shield instead of one that’s printed. Here you can also see some 1×2 tiles added over the headlight bricks.
These elements are used to make the core of the roof.
And each roof section attaches to one side of the travis brick.
