Tilting plates can often be an effective way to make hills and mounds in landscapes.
I usually use 1×2 vertical hinges to attach the plates, and mix in standard studs up building to smooth transitions.
By laying out the tilted sections first, it’s easy to build around them and cover up any gaps.
Continue in this way, until you’ve got the entire landscape base finished.
Then all that’s left is finishing ground texture, and adding some plants. Leaves or other plant parts can be quite helpful to cover up any small gaps.
