Shingle Roof Tutorial

This tutorial shows how to build a ”shingled” roof like the one I used here.

Overview

It is a very simple design than consists of 1×2 tiles, and some basic plates. I chose to use Medium Dark Flesh, and Dark Tan mixed together, but lots of other color variations would also work really well.

1

The lack of tubes on the bottom of the 1×2 tiles allows some flexibility in placement which this design makes full use of. Only partially attach the tiles, and stagger every other row back a little.

2

The rows that are farther back should have the top end of the tile pushed up right against the stud behind it.

3

Keep adding the tiles in this pattern.

4

And that is how it’s done!

If you have any questions about the design, don’t hesitate to ask. And if there is another technique you’d like to see a tutorial for, let me know.

  1. Sweet! I saw this on InnovaLUG’s website 🙂 I bet it’d look really cool with reddish brown with some mixed in Dark Brown and some of printed ‘wooden board’ pieces 🙂

  2. Awesome! I’ll definitely be using this in the future. 😀
