This tutorial shows how to build a ”shingled” roof like the one I used here.
It is a very simple design than consists of 1×2 tiles, and some basic plates. I chose to use Medium Dark Flesh, and Dark Tan mixed together, but lots of other color variations would also work really well.
The lack of tubes on the bottom of the 1×2 tiles allows some flexibility in placement which this design makes full use of. Only partially attach the tiles, and stagger every other row back a little.
The rows that are farther back should have the top end of the tile pushed up right against the stud behind it.
Keep adding the tiles in this pattern.
And that is how it’s done!
If you have any questions about the design, don’t hesitate to ask. And if there is another technique you’d like to see a tutorial for, let me know.
Sweet! I saw this on InnovaLUG’s website 🙂 I bet it’d look really cool with reddish brown with some mixed in Dark Brown and some of printed ‘wooden board’ pieces 🙂
Thanks! Yeah, RB and DB would look great for a wooden effect.
Awesome! I’ll definitely be using this in the future. 😀
