Furniture Tutorial #2

This is the second tutorial on furniture, and there will eventually be more. If you’d like to see the first, you can find that here. Similar to the style of the first post, there will be a good variety of different furniture designs covered, all in minifigure-scale.

So let’s get started! This large rounded table fits nicely in a council room, and you may recall seeing it inside the mountain of our Nordheim layout. The SNOT construction allows for the non-square shape and those technic bricks will serve as connection points for table legs.

We created some stout table legs from 2×2 plate rounds and 2×2 jumpers.

Some half pins stuck in the top of the technic bricks allow for accessories to be attached to the table. You’ll notice that the pins don’t fit quite all the way into the bricks because of the jumper plates attached below.

Here is a nice table with drawers.

You can use this basic design to come up with lots of table variations, attaching jumper plates to headlight bricks gives a slightly different look to the ‘drawers’.

Moving on to some chair designs, we’ll begin with what I used for the Jarl’s chair in the Nordheim Greathouse.

As you can see in this view, the clips are attached to the bottom of the 2×3 plate which holds the chair together.

The robot arms and lightsaber hilts serve as the arms and front legs of the chair. Bars or flex tubing work nicely to attach the arms and outside sections of the chair’s back.

These next two are based off of the same skeleton, with some slight variation. They were inspired by Aaron Andrews.

The bars in the back are four long, and the horizontal clips attach to the old style robot arms.

Some fancy candlesticks will finish out this tutorial. The tan technic parts could be substituted with white or tan cones/brick rounds.
