A look behind the scenes of what went into creating my Forest Cottage build.
As with most builds, I started with the general layout, as well as deciding what colors to use for the ground, and building the base.
Next I put in the stream, and started on the cottage itself. As I wanted the window on the right to have a light behind it, and given the small building size, there was no interior.
The walls progressed fairly quickly, (or I just forgot to take a picture between this and the last one…) and I added the roofs. They were one of the trickiest parts, as our selection of dark blue tiles and plates was very small. There ended up being just enough to finish the whole thing. The terrain was progressing nicely as well, the two gardens, a little winding path, and some more of the sand green landscaping were put on.
One of the last things to do, was build the trees. I started off with an olive green one next to the tall dark/dark orange one in the back, but didn’t like how the colors looked together.
So I switched the tree to dark green and also changed up the shape a bit. A few more fall colored saplings were also added.
Then it was just some finishing touches like birds and other animals along with some tools and final landscape detailing.
The friends squirrel was later switched out in favor of a brickbuilt version, as I didn’t think the prefab one fit the style of the scene very well.
And here’s the finished build!
