My entry for round 1 of The Middle Earth LEGO Olympics over on MOCpages. The category was to create a build based on one of J.R.R Tolkien’s poems or songs. Here is the one I chose:
Farewell we call to hearth and hall!
Though wind may blow and rain may fall,
We must away ere break of day
Far over wood and mountain tall.
To Rivendell, where Elves yet dwell
In glades beneath the misty fell,
Through moor and waste we ride in haste,
And whither then we cannot tell.
With foes ahead, behind us dread,
Beneath the sky shall be our bed,
Until at last our toil be passed,
Our journey done, our errand sped.
We must away! We must away!
We ride before the break of day!
I tried to portray the 3 main themes of the song: hearth and home, travel through the wild, and Rivendell.
Nice work! I really like it, I think there may be one too many colors but if I’m not mistaken that’s kinda the look you were going for(?)
One to many colors in which part?
On the right ones. They’re two different scenes but with the orange and red tree it kinda makes them look like they’re supposed to blend.
Good thought!
Really awesome John!!! This is really cool, and looks super difficult to beat… Yikes!!! I think my favorite scene goes from left to right… Keep it up! 😀
I love the curved tutor interior, and the two irregular borders are excellent as well; especially the middle one. I really like the look of those big curved pieces in rockwork. Do you have trouble getting the rockwork to look good, or does it come naturally from practice?
